Medical Weight Loss

Our Simple Workflow - Is this a good fit for you?

We tailor our process to your needs, starting with your health priorities (like managing conditions such as type 2 diabetes) before addressing chronic weight management. Not everyone qualifies—eligibility depends on labs, BMI, health history, and exam results. If risks are identified, our providers will discuss alternatives to ensure your safety.

  1. Free Initial Consultation: Schedule a virtual or in-person session to review your health goals, medical history, and potential for weight management support. This helps determine if our services are a good fit.
  2. Health Assessment and Labs: We order baseline labs and review medications to assess if you are a good fit for Medical Weight Loss.
  3. Custom Care Plan: Based on results, we create a personalized plan focused on sustainable health improvements. Prescriptions, if appropriate, are sent to discounted pharmacies.
  4. Ongoing Monitoring and Support:
    • In-Person Services: Visit our Temecula clinic for hands-on exams, vital checks, or if virtual isn't sufficient (e.g., for complex cases). Combines seamlessly with telemed for flexibility.
    • Virtual Services (Telemed-Only Option): Available for California residents only. Requires an initial video consult to establish care, signed agreements (including telehealth consent, HIPAA authorization, liability acknowledgment, and medication-specific risks), weekly self-reported weight check-ins via app/portal, and access to local Quest labs for monitoring. Follow-ups are video-based, with escalation to in-person if symptoms warrant. This option ensures convenience while maintaining high standards of care.
  5. Progress Reviews: Regular check-ins to adjust your plan, celebrate milestones, and address any concerns.

Our Safety Protocols: Ensuring Your Well-Being

Your health and safety are our top priorities. We follow evidence-based best practices from medical guidelines to provide thorough, protective care throughout your journey. These protocols help detect issues early, minimize risks, and support sustainable results:

  • Initial Assessment: A comprehensive video or in-person review of your history, BMI, and comorbidities to confirm eligibility and tailor support safely.
  • Labs Monitoring: Baseline tests, then every 3-6 months (or sooner if needed) to track markers like electrolytes and organ function, preventing potential complications.
  • Weight Check-Ins: Weekly self-reports verified during appointments, promoting accountability and early adjustments for better outcomes.
  • Side Effects Monitoring: Screenings every 2-4 weeks initially (then 2-3 months) using checklists and education on when to seek urgent care, addressing common concerns like GI issues.
  • Follow-Up Appointments: Every 4 weeks early on, then quarterly, with nutrition and behavior coaching to ensure ongoing safety and effectiveness.
  • Documentation: Secure, HIPAA-compliant records of all interactions to maintain transparency and continuity.

These steps align with standards from organizations like the California Medical Board, ensuring our primary care services protect you every step of the way.

Insurance vs. Self-Pay Options

We always put your healthcare needs first, working closely with you to explore the best path forward. Our medical weight loss management is offered as a self-pay membership to provide accessible, high-quality primary care support for those pursuing health goals like chronic condition management and sustainable weight control.

If your health profile qualifies for weight management services (based on medical necessity, such as lab results showing comorbidities, BMI over 30 or 27 with related conditions, and a history of unsuccessful non-medication attempts), and we accept your insurance, we can review if your plan might cover aspects of the care. This could include transitioning from self-pay to insurance-billed services once we validate eligibility, submit prior authorization (if required), and receive approval. In many cases, this involves establishing us as your primary healthcare provider to coordinate care and billing effectively, as insurers often require an in-network PCP for ongoing management of chronic issues like diabetes or obesity. However, coverage varies widely in California—many plans limit or exclude weight-related services, especially post-2025 changes, and Medicare/Medi-Cal generally do not cover medications solely for weight loss. If your insurance does not approve (due to lack of medical necessity or plan restrictions), our affordable self-pay option ensures you still receive uninterrupted support through unlimited visits, monitoring, and education.

We'll discuss all options during your free consult to find what works best for your situation—no promises, just personalized guidance.

We do not provide medical advice through this site, and reliance on any information presented here is solely at your own risk.

No Guarantees on Outcomes: Participation in the MWL program does not guarantee specific weight loss results or health improvements. Outcomes vary significantly based on individual factors such as age, genetics, metabolism, adherence to the care plan, lifestyle changes, and underlying medical conditions. There is no assurance of achieving a particular amount of weight loss, and results may differ from those described in testimonials or examples. Not all individuals will qualify for the program; eligibility is determined by our providers based on comprehensive assessments, including labs, BMI, health history, and exams. If participation poses health risks, alternatives will be discussed.

Medication-Related Matters: Temecula Medical Group does not manufacture, compound, distribute, or sell medications. Any prescriptions provided as part of the MWL program (such as GLP-1 agonists like semaglutide or tirzepatide) are issued to licensed pharmacies for fulfillment. All medication-related issues, including but not limited to side effects, efficacy, quality, interactions, or adverse reactions, are the responsibility of the pharmaceutical manufacturer and dispensing pharmacy. We encourage patients to review the manufacturer's prescribing information, warnings (e.g., FDA boxed warnings for risks like thyroid tumors or pancreatitis), and report any concerns directly to the manufacturer or FDA. Our role is limited to primary care services, such as assessments, monitoring, and education to support your health goals.

Risks and Limitations: Weight management involves potential risks, including those associated with lifestyle changes or prescribed therapies. Side effects from recommended approaches may occur, and we cannot predict or prevent all individual responses. Patients must adhere to provider instructions, attend follow-ups, and report symptoms promptly. Virtual services have limitations (e.g., no physical exams), and we may require in-person visits for safety. We comply with California Medical Board standards, HIPAA, and FDA guidelines, but we disclaim liability for any harm arising from non-adherence, misuse of information, or external factors beyond our control.
