What Are Minor Injuries?
Common Minor Injuries We Treat
The most frequent minor injuries include:
- Lacerations (cuts, scrapes, and abrasions)
- Small burns affecting limited skin areas
- Bruises and sores
- Sprains and strains
- Minor bone fractures
Our state-of-the-art urgent care center welcomes walk-in patients who need timely attention for these conditions.
How Minor Injuries Are Diagnosed
Many minor injuries can be assessed with a simple visual exam. For cuts, bruises, or burns, treatment often starts right away. Sprains, strains, and possible fractures usually need imaging such as X-rays, CT scans, or MRIs. Blood work may also be ordered if an injury isn’t healing as expected.
How Minor Injuries Are Treated
Early evaluation helps prevent infection and supports proper healing. Rest, ice, elevation, and over-the-counter medication often suffice. Other treatments may include stitches, antibiotic ointments or oral antibiotics, clean bandaging, bracing, casting, or anti-inflammatory medication. If specialized care or surgery is needed, we can refer you to the appropriate specialist.
When to Seek Care
While many minor injuries improve on their own, professional attention is wise if you notice:
- Increasing pain
- Bleeding that won’t stop
- Visible deformity
- A bruise or sore that won’t heal
- Significant swelling
- Limited range of motion or restricted mobility
Because Temecula Medical Group offers in-house diagnostics and urgent care, evaluation is typically faster and more convenient than visiting separate facilities.
